This course explores the role of urban planning, and environmental policy in the
context of global climate change. The course covers four thematic areas:
1. Physical science of climate change focusing on causes and specifically
the anthropogenic links. Present state of climate change knowledge
including scientific assessments and limitations are also discussed.
2. Broader environmental policy and implications for climate change
response.
3. Present response to climate change. Challenges and opportunities at
the international, national and sub–national level are briefly discussed.
4. Urban planning tools and policies relevant to climate change
management at the local level.
